Tips to prepare for newborn session

- Generally parents should schedule their newborn session within 12 days of life. Newborns tend to do best when sessions are scheduled within the first week as they are still tired from birth. This will help you get the dreamy sleepy images.

- Newborn sessions will take place at Captured Memories Photography where the room temperature will be set a little warmer. This is to ensure your little one stays comfortable since they are not in control of their body temperatures. Please dress in something a little lighter and you will get warm and may even sweat a little.

- Please loosen baby's clothes and diaper about 30 mins prior to session. This allows all dentations to be removed from skin before session.

- To have a sleepy baby try to keep baby up 30-60 minutes before the start of the session. This will help them be sleepy once getting into studio. If baby doesn't stay awake do not stress, it will be ok!

- Try to feed baby right before the start of the session. This helps get baby into milk drunk state. If baby makes messes we will have plenty of time for clean up.

- If siblings will be a part of the session those images will happen first. This way the siblings can then be occupied or leave with another if they become antsy.

-Patience is the key to a newborn session. Sessions can last any where from 1-4 hours. Try to relax during the session.

-I have a large variety of props and backdrops along with accessories. I will have everything set up and ready for your session. If you want something special brought into the session please discuss with me in advance. Also please note that baby may poop and pee all over my props. It is ok and expected. Each prop is washed after each session.

- Finally if your baby uses a pacifier or another object for comfort please bring it with. This will help calm baby in transition.
